What Is “All-In Pricing” and What Does It Mean for You?
On May 12, 2025 the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) “Junk Fees Rule” came into affect. This regulation aims to eliminate unfair or deceptive fee tactics, particularly in ticketing, where buyers may be surprised by unexpected fees added at checkout.
To help you address these changes and offer a transparent experience to your customers, Flicket has enabled “All-In Pricing” for all event organisers in the United States. This means your customers will now see the full ticket price, including any applicable fees, right from the ticket selection screen, well before they reach the checkout.
What Is All-In Pricing?
All-In Pricing ensures that:
- All required fees (such as Flicket platform fees or payment processing fees) are included in the upfront ticket price visible to buyers at the start of their ticket buying journey.
- Customers are not surprised by extra mandatory charges at checkout.
This is both best practice and compliant with the FTC’s latest rule on fee transparency. You can learn more about the new rule from the FTC here.
What Does This Mean for You as an Event Organiser?
Flicket is a white-label platform, which means you have control over how your ticketing pages are set up. But it also means it's important to configure your events in a way that supports transparent pricing.
Here’s what you need to know based on how you handle fees:
If You Pass Fees On to Attendees:
- Flicket’s All-In Pricing now automatically displays the total price (ticket + any fees) upfront.
- Avoid using custom line item fields (e.g., “admin fee” or “venue fee”) to add extra mandatory charges unless they’re clearly disclosed in the ticket price or included in the overall fee configuration.
- If you do charge additional fees, it’s best to incorporate them into the ticket price itself.
If You Absorb Fees:
- If you're covering platform and payment fees yourself, your buyers already see a single, all-inclusive price and no further action is needed.
- However, be mindful of any custom fees you may have added manually via line items. If those fees are required, move them into the ticket price or fee settings to keep your pricing transparent.
What’s Exempt from All-In Pricing?
- Sales taxes are generally excluded from this requirement.
- Donations are generally excluded from this requirement.
- Optional items (like merch, parking, or add-ons) can still be listed separately, as long as they’re clearly marked as optional.
Why It Matters
Clear pricing builds trust and reduces cart abandonment. With All-In Pricing enabled on Flicket, you can promote your events confidently, knowing your ticket buyers are seeing accurate, upfront costs.
