Complimentary Tickets
How to create and issue complimentary tickets, how to bulk upload complimentary tickets, and how your complimentary tickets will display in your reports depending on how you issue them.
There are various methods available for issuing complimentary tickets within the Flicket system. Each approach may impact reporting and capacities in unique ways. This article will explore the different ways of issuing comps and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each method.
A) Mark as Complimentary
The first method for issuing a comp, is to create an order like normal, then mark as 'complimentary' for the payment method.
This way you can add a note/reason for complimentary ticket. This feature is beneficial when multiple users are issuing complimentary tickets, as all admins can see why a particular ticket was marked as complimentary.
Because this method uses existing tickets, an important thing to note is that your complimentary tickets will count towards that ticket capacity.
For example: You have set the capacity of the First Release to 150. In the event setup you can see that 150 first release tickets have been issued. However, when you check the sales & financials report, you will see that 10 of those 150 tickets were actually comp tickets.
Therefore, if you want to sell more of that ticket type, then you will need to increase that ticket capacity to ensure the tickets go back on sale. Eg: increase the capacity of first release to 160 so you can sell 150.
If you want to issue complimentary tickets but your event has sold out, you will need to increase the capacity of one of your ticket types in order to issue more comp tickets.

B) Create a Separate Complimentary Ticket
The second method is to create a separate complimentary ticket type. This is useful if you want the name of the comp ticket to be different to your paid tickets (eg: sponsor comp) or you want your comp tickets to appear as a different line item in your reports (rather than in the same line item as above). If you have a certain allocation of comp tickets, you may want to create a separate comp ticket type so you can keep track of this allocation.
To create a new comp ticket type:
1. Edit your event, head to the tickets tab then select 'Add Ticket'
2. Edit the ticket type
- Name the ticket, click advanced settings, check 'hide from public' and 'complimentary ticket' then 'add ticket'
3. Create an access code for your comp ticket
Go to the access codes tab and select 'Create code'
Type the name of your access code
Select the comp ticket you just created
4. Create an order
- Go to the orders tab and select create order
- Select the event and your new access code release
- Type your access code into the access release box and hit enter
- Select how many tickets you want to issue
- Fill in the customers details
- Mark as complimentary
When you issue comp tickets this way, they will report as a separate line item in the sales and financials report.
Although there are a few more steps to issuing comps with this method, doing it this way will not affect the capacities of your other ticket types.
C) Bulk Issuing Comp Tickets
To bulk issue comp tickets, you will need to create a separate comp ticket type.
Follow steps 1-3 above to create a comp ticket type and access code.
Once you have created your comp ticket and access code you can upload your comps.
** Note: Your event must be published to create bulk orders
1. Go to the orders tab, then select 'Create Bulk Orders'
2. Select your event and the access code release with your comp ticket in it then select download template
3. Fill in the template and save as csv
**Note: All the columns with asterisk are mandatory (First name, last name, postcode, send confirmation email and number of tickets)
4. Go back to Flicket and select 'Upload' to upload your template then select 'Submit'
You will then receive an email letting you know what orders were successfully uploaded
