What are Private Links (or Access Codes)?
Links are how we make tickets live to be purchased.
We have 3 different types of links.
Listed = Public. The listed link will appear on your homepage. You can only have 1 listed link.
Unlisted = Private. Private links are not listed on the homepage but can be accessed via a link or access code. You can have an unlimited amount of unlisted links.
POS = Point of Sale. If you are running a box office, you will need to create a POS link.
In this article, we will discuss unlisted, private links.
Private links enable targeted promotional campaigns for specific audience segments, enhance security by restricting unauthorized ticket purchases, and offer valuable insights into sales performance through code usage tracking.
- Increased Control: Access codes give promoters the ability to manage ticket sales effectively, ensuring only targeted audiences benefit from special offers.
- Enhanced Engagement: By using unique codes, promoters can create tailored marketing campaigns that resonate with specific demographics, leading to higher conversion rates.
- Improved Security: Access codes help mitigate the risk of unauthorized ticket sales, protecting both the promoter's revenue and the integrity of the event.
- Actionable Insights: Tracking the usage of access codes provides valuable data that can inform future marketing strategies and optimize event planning.
When to use Private Links
There are multiple different uses for private links. You can give people a link or an access code to access a private link for the following uses:
- Give access to hidden tickets
- Give access to discounted tickets
- Give access to specific sections within your map
- Track how many of what ticket type is purchased by a certain group
- Give back office staff access to put orders through for tickets/sections that may not be available to the public
You can set the time period a link is active for, or the quantity of tickets available in the link.
How to create a Private Link
In this example, we will create a private link to offer members' guests discounted tickets.
1. Select 'Create new Link'
2. Change the link type from 'listed' to 'unlisted'
3. Enter a name for your link: Eg: Members Guest
- If you want your customers to access this link via an access code, enter the access code in the link slug box
- Set the start and end time or limit the quantity or tickets available in the link
The system will automatically ensure the link is live by making it active
To set a start date/time: Select the first drop down and change this from manual to date, then select the date and time you want the link to go active.
To set an end time: Select the second drop down and change this from manual to date then select the date and time you want the link to close.
To limit the quantity of tickets available: Select the second drop down and change this from manual to quantity
4. Turn on any link options (optional)
If you want customers to be able to redeem comp tickets through your link, you will need to turn on 'Allow public to purchase complimentary tickets'
5. Enter any link specific notes: These will appear in the important notes section above all ticket types and zones in the purchasing process
6. Add ticket types to zones
**We have created a separate members guest ticket for this example**
- Use the drop down to open up each zone
- Change the 'select pricing on' from zone level to section level
- Ensure the toggle is green to to make the zone live
- Select which tickets you want visible in each section for this release. You can turn tickets and sections on and off by ticking and unticking them.
- Enter the price of each ticket in each section in the corresponding box
Select the tickets you want to sell and enter the price of the ticket in each zone you want live.
7. Submit and save your link: Once you have setup all your tickets, select submit up the top right hand corner to save your link
Limit tickets per person
If you want to limit the number of tickets each individual person can purchase/redeem, we can do so using purchase codes. Please refer to our purchase codes article for more details
